Well, the headline might be a mixed aphorism, but there is nothing mixed about what NJAET is doing with its membership. Beginning May 18, 2006, it will cost nothing (as in nada, zero, zippo) to be a member of NJAET. In fact, you can have your whole family become members at the same price.
We can hear the cynical remarks now… “Yeah, right. What’s the catch!”
There is no catch. You will no longer have to pony up your 25 bucks to join NJAET each year. No more POs to cut, no more checks to write, and one less thing to worry about.
How can we do this, you might wonder. We didn’t win the MegaMillions lottery, nor did a great benefactor arrive at our doorstep. We have simply decided to change the way we operate to capitalize on the technology we have and print a whole lot less material.
Here is the way it will work.
You, your friends and relatives will
need to sign up to be members. This is the important part, because
you will need to give us an e-mail address and school or home mailing address
where we can reach you. The e-mail address should be one that allows
us to communicate with you. Sometimes school servers block our e-mails
We need your mailing address to communicate with you if your e-mail gets
bounced back.
You will receive your newsletters and
other communications via e-mail or from the NJAET web site. Since
much of your membership fee went to printing and postage, we will no longer
need to charge you.
Your responsibility in this is to let us know if you change your e-mail address, since this will be our way of communicating. We will ask you to renew your free membership periodically so we can update our files.
